Scotland’s national innovation centre for industrial biotechnology is to receive a new £11 million investment from the Scottish Government over the next five years. The funding will support the Scottish Government’s National Plan for Biotechnology by contributing 500 jobs to the 1,400 jobs the Plan aims to create.
David Smith, Senior Director at Scottish Enterprise, commented
“We’re making excellent progress in raising Scotland’s business innovation levels, with R&D investment in Scotland reaching £1 billion for the first time last year as well as the EY Attractiveness Survey 2017 recognising Scotland as the UK leader in attracting foreign direct investment for R&D projects.”
