Celebrating the 180th birthday of Crum Brown

Last week marked the 180th birthday of Edinburgh born and raised Alexander Crum Brown (1838–1922), the man who illustrated the chemical bond.

You may not recognise the name, but Crum Brown’s greatest scientific contribution was a graphical theory to represent the linking of atoms in molecules – the chemical bond.
